You Won’t Believe Who Took the Eurovision Crown This Year!
Austria’s JJ won the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 with his unique operatic song “Wasted Love.” The 24-year-old countertenor from Vienna mixed opera, techno, and soprano sounds, captivating millions worldwide. This victory marks Austria’s third Eurovision win, the first since 2014.
JJ, whose real name is Johannes Pietsch, expressed his joy, saying, “This is absolutely insane. My dreams came true.” He hopes to host next year’s contest in Vienna, a city that previously held the event in 2015.
The competition, held in Basel, Switzerland, attracted 100,000 fans. Israel’s Yuval Raphael, a survivor of last year’s tragic attacks, finished second with the song “New Day Will Rise.” Despite political tensions and protests, the event remained a celebration of music.
Austrian leaders praised JJ’s win, calling it a historic moment. Fans from around the world traveled to Basel, showing the contest’s global appeal. JJ’s message was clear: “There’s no wasted love. Love is never wasted.“
