Los Angeles, April 29, 2025:
American Idol season 23 kicked off this week’s episode with a rock n’ roll theme. The 14 contestants had to perform songs by artists who are members of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. From Elvis Presley’s Jailhouse Rock to Michael Jackson’s I Can’t Help It, the episode featured many memorable performances. Two contestants were eliminated, reducing the number of singers to 12.
The show also announced the 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees: Cyndi Lauper, Outkast, Chubby Checker, Bad Company, Joe Cocker, Soundgarden, and The White Stripes.
Judges Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie, and Carrie Underwood did not pick the Top 12. Instead, fans had only the length of the episode to vote and save their favourite contestants from elimination.
