
Los Angeles, CA: A bustling Sunday afternoon turned chaotic in downtown Los Angeles after a minivan drove through a crowd, injuring nine people, including three children, near a popular shopping area in the city’s fashion district, authorities reported.
The incident took place outside Santee Alley, a well-known open-air marketplace located at the intersection of Maple Avenue and 12th Street. Shocking footage shared via the Citizen App shows the vehicle barreling through a dense crowd before smashing into a sidewalk structure, sending bystanders scrambling for safety.
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, emergency responders rushed to the scene to attend to the injured. While most of the victims received prompt medical attention, two 23-year-old women declined further treatment and were released against medical advice.
The cause of the crash remains unclear, and authorities have yet to determine whether the act was intentional, accidental, or due to a medical emergency. An investigation is currently underway.
The shopping district, often packed with families and vendors, was left shaken by the incident, raising concerns about pedestrian safety in the high-traffic retail zone.
