March 3, LA: Rapper Ronnie “Lil Ronnie” Smith, also known as G$ Lil Ronnie, and his five-year-old daughter were tragically killed in a shooting at Slappy’s Express Car Wash on Forest Hill Drive in Fort Worth, Texas, on Monday. Police and paramedics confirmed their deaths but have not yet provided further details on the incident or identified any suspects.
Family in Mourning
Lil Ronnie’s aunt, Stella Houston, identified the victims and expressed her grief, describing him as a dedicated family man who stayed out of trouble. “He was a rapper. He didn’t bother nobody. He didn’t target anybody. He was a family man, and he was going around rapping. Why would you target him?” she said.
Lil Ronnie’s Legacy in Music
Born in Kansas City, Missouri, Lil Ronnie was known for his storytelling through music. He gained recognition with tracks like ‘Hoodfame Killumanti,’ ‘Crash Pt. 4,’ and ‘Wop.’ His last album, ‘Literally,’ was released in 2023, followed by a single titled ‘Chase’ in 2024.
Beyond his solo career, Lil Ronnie was an accomplished producer, working with major artists such as Britney Spears, T-Pain, Usher, GloRilla, Mary J. Blige, Ciara, and Reuben Studdard. In 2021, he launched a five-studio facility in Atlanta, Georgia, and was in the process of building a 100,000-square-foot production facility in Alpharetta, Atlanta.
Authorities have yet to release details about the shooting, and no suspect has been identified. The tragic loss of Lil Ronnie and his young daughter has left fans, family, and the music community in mourning.
