March 12, Oregon: In the quiet town of Siletz, Oregon, the search for 2-year-old Dane Paulsen concluded in heartbreak. Dane vanished from his family’s front yard on March 1, prompting an extensive search effort that spanned ten days. On March 11, his body was discovered in the Siletz River, approximately three miles downstream from his home.
The search took many agencies, such as the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon State Police, the FBI, and more than 140 community volunteers. Although extensive efforts were made by the use of drones, K9s, divers, and watercraft, it was volunteer diver Juan Heredia of the Angels Recovery Dive Team who finally found Dane. Accompanied by a local river guide, Heredia searched areas below where previous efforts had taken place and discovered the child around 11:13 a.m.
“Our thoughts are with the family, who are facing an unbearable sorrow,” stated Sheriff Adam Shanks. He expressed deep gratitude for the dedication shown by search teams and community members throughout the challenging search while lamenting the tragic outcome.
The investigation is ongoing, with authorities working alongside the Lincoln County Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the circumstances surrounding Dane’s disappearance. At this time, there is no evidence of criminal activity, and the case did not meet the criteria for an Amber Alert. Keep Reading Questiqa.us for more news.
