Disney’s Snow White sett to release on 21 March featuring Rachel Zegler

Read Time:1 Minute, 50 Second

Disney’s live-action remake of “Snow White” will open in theaters on March 21, 2025. The movie features Rachel Zegler as Snow White and Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen.

Before release, Disney will have a premiere on March 15 at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood. There will be a pre-party and screening, and Zegler and Gadot are likely to appear. But unlike conventional premieres, Disney has decided against a flashy red-carpet affair. There will be just photographers and a house crew present to cover, shunning the extensive media interviews that tend to accompany such events.

This move comes at the backdrop of numerous controversies around the movie. The film’s casting decisions, changes to its storyline, and depiction of some characters have raised eyebrows among critics. Most notably, the choice of Latina actress Rachel Zegler as Snow White set everyone talking about representation and keeping things true to the original character. Secondly, changes to the depiction of the seven dwarfs have raised eyebrows, prompting Disney to take the dwarfism community on board to steer clear of perpetuating stereotypes.

Despite all these problems, the production has a huge talent working behind it. Award-winning costume designer Sandy Powell has reinterpreted the classic costumes, combining elements of the 1937 classic cartoon with new designs. For Snow White, Powell stuck to the original color scheme but added medieval-style long sleeves. The Evil Queen’s costume draws from the classic Hollywood glamour of the 1930s, and the goal is to convey both sophistication and fear.

Directed by Marc Webb, whose credits include the “The Amazing Spider-Man” franchise, and produced by Marc Platt, the movie boasts new music by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, the writers of “La La Land” and “The Greatest Showman”. The production was made mostly in London between March and July of 2022, with further scenes recorded in mid-2024.

As the release date approaches, audiences and critics alike are eager to see how this adaptation balances honoring the original tale with contemporary updates. Keep Reading Questiqa.com Get more News Headlines On Our Social Platforms And Do Follow.
