Toronto, Canada – February 20, 2025: Delta Air Lines announced it will compensate each passenger onboard the regional jet that crashed and flipped upside down at Toronto Pearson International Airport with $30,000. The airline stated that this payment comes with “no strings attached” and does not affect passengers’ legal rights.

The Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft, operated by Endeavor Air, crashed while landing at approximately 2:45 p.m. local time on Monday. The impact caused the plane to flip onto its back, breaking off its wings and tail. All 76 passengers and four crew members were evacuated, though 18 people sustained injuries and were transported to hospitals. Paramedics confirmed that none of the injuries were life-threatening.

Survivors recounted the terrifying moment, describing how the plane initially struck the ground, bounced back into the air, then rolled onto its back. Footage of the crash showed flames erupting near the tail upon impact, followed by thick black smoke. Experts believe the small size of the aircraft and the use of seat belts likely contributed to saving lives.

The crash is under investigation by the Transportation Safety Board of Canada, with support from the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board. Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the accident, which is the latest in a series of high-profile aviation incidents.
