Brad Arnold, the lead singer of the American rock band 3 Doors Down, has announced that he has been diagnosed with stage 4 clear cell renal cell carcinoma, a type of kidney cancer that has metastasized to his lungs.
In an emotional video shared on Instagram on May 7, Arnold, 46, revealed that he had been feeling unwell and was hospitalized, leading to the diagnosis. Despite the severity of his condition, Arnold expressed a positive outlook, stating, “I really, sincerely am not scared of it at all,” attributing his strength to his faith in God.
As a result of his diagnosis, 3 Doors Down has canceled their upcoming summer tour, which was scheduled to begin on May 15 in Daytona Beach, Florida, and included performances alongside Creed and other bands. The band’s website has been updated to reflect the tour cancellation and features Arnold’s video message to fans.
Arnold referenced the band’s 2008 hit “It’s Not My Time” as a source of personal strength during this challenging period. He also requested prayers from fans, stating, “I’d love for you to lift me up in prayer every chance you get.”
The announcement has prompted an outpouring of support from fans and fellow musicians. Creed frontman Scott Stapp commented, “If anyone has the FAITH and STRENGTH to face this fight, it’s YOU brother,” offering prayers for Arnold’s healing. Other artists, including Chris Daughtry and Jason Aldean, have also shared messages of encouragement.
Clear cell renal cell carcinoma is the most common form of kidney cancer. When it has metastasized, as in Arnold’s case, treatment becomes more challenging, and the five-year survival rate falls to about 10%.
Brad Arnold co-founded 3 Doors Down in 1996 in Escatawpa, Mississippi. The band gained fame with their debut single “Kryptonite” in 2000 and has since released several successful albums.
Arnold’s candidness about his diagnosis and his unwavering faith have resonated with fans worldwide. As he faces this battle, the music community and supporters continue to rally around him, offering prayers and well-wishes for his recovery. Keep Reading Questiqa.Us for more news.
