Reality TV star and former “Bachelorette” Katie Thurston has shared a difficult update regarding her battle with breast cancer. After initially announcing her stage 3 diagnosis in February, Katie revealed that doctors have found suspicious spots on her liver, raising concerns of metastatic disease, which could mean her cancer has progressed to stage 4.

Taking to her Instagram’s Boobie Broadcast Channel on March 24, the 34-year-old expressed her distress, stating, “My biopsy is scheduled Friday which would have been my treatment day. We now wait.” Her oncologist believes the liver spots are cancerous, placing her at an advanced stage of the illness.

“She seemed to be leaning more on the cancer in the liver vs. optimistic,” Katie added. “This would put me at stage 4. I’d love to hear from my sisters who are stage 4 in terms of quality of life, motherhood, etc.”

In an emotional moment, Katie documented her participation in the I-SPY clinical trial, which includes chemotherapy and procedures such as Zoladex injections to shrink tumors. A video she shared captured her struggling with the pain, questioning her resilience. “Do I cry too much? Hyperventilating too much? Not brave enough? I’m here to stay as long as they’ll allow it,” she reflected.

Despite her health struggles, Katie remains focused on her future. She has been undergoing IVF treatments to freeze her eggs in hopes of having children after her cancer journey. Her determination to preserve her dreams amid adversity has resonated with fans and fellow cancer warriors.

Adding a silver lining to her challenging journey, Katie and comedian Jeff Arcuri tied the knot in an intimate backyard ceremony on March 22. The couple shared the joyous news via Instagram on March 23, posting a heartfelt picture of them walking hand in hand. “We said ‘I do’ on March twenty-two,” she captioned the post.

The ceremony, attended by their parents and their adopted puppy Charlie, was a testament to their love. The couple plans to host a larger wedding celebration next spring after Katie completes her treatment.

Reflecting on Jeff’s unwavering support, Katie shared with a news channel, “It was this kind gesture of him saying, truly, in sickness and in health. He is proving that he’s here to stay.”
